This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

seed swap day
I'm organizing a Seed Swap Day and Harvest Celebration at our Community Garden on Saturday, October 3. Stop by if you are in the area. If you want to donate free seeds or prizes for a giant vegetable contest, let me know!
Hmmm, live in CT but it happens that I'll be in Gloucester in the a.m., I will look into squeezing it into the day. Having grown up with British allotments, it would be fun to see the community garden. Never done a seed swap before, do I bring leftover seeds from this year (purchased) or am I meant to bring harvested seeds or new purchased seeds or what? Many thanks
Had to move my rasps and blackberries today for another project (you know, the project you have to do before you can do the project that you really meant to do?) so divided up the rasps. I have 6 pots to bring up to the plant swap and maybe some seeds. Hoping to trade for some daylilies or who knows what? (CT)
I am thinking of putting in a small raspberry plot myself. There are MANY raspberries here in the gardens. They do well. I could just did them up from the paths to get a plot full. There are also many daylillies in the paths. A thought - I can remove a few for the seed swap. Great. I think I'll start potting things up too.
