This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

thinned beets and carrots
I thinned my carrots and beets again. The beet greens are yummy mixed with lettuce greens. A few of the carrots were big enough to eat.

Gorgeous blog! I could sit and admire your pictures for ages!
What a great assortment of carrots and beets. Are the carrots really that red!
The purple carrots are called Cosmic Purple. The orange ones are Red Core Chantenay and Oxheart. I planted them all on April 21.
