This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.
There was a heated discussion at another blog (gardenrant) regarding community gardens. Things may not have heated up if they have used the term Community Plot instead of Community Garden. I know of a least one Community Garden in my city that is just that; a community garden. There are no plots. A group of people decide what to grow and how to grow it and then everybody helps make it happen; from the planting to the harvest. I wish I had a community plot!
