This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

the first crocus of spring !!!
What a welcome sight. I came across this soft purple crocus in the mist yesterday afternoon. I've been mostly walking outside with my eyes closed as the winter has done me in this year. Maybe its time to start looking around now. I found this one crocus and two little snowdrops in the gardens around my house. Lots of little sprouts and buds around too.

That IS a sight for sore eyes! (And a beautiful photo too!)
What a beautiful picture! I'm jealous. Still no sign of life up here in Ontario zone 5!
Our first crocus already bloomed. Congratulations. Spring is coming. We enjoy walking around the neighborhood and spotting new signs of spring. We would like to plant some snowdrops this year. They were the first to bloom in our local climate. We want the earliest green we can get. Winter was bad this year, very cold and not much pretty snow, which sometimes makes the cold worth it. It's a good thing we have so many green houseplants.
What a beautiful little crocus - isn't it just so exciting to get your first sign of spring?
It IS very exciting. I wonder what's blooming today...
My crocus are coming but they haven't bloomed yet. I can't wait!!
What a difference a few miles make! I'm in Mansfield, and while we have lots of bulbs up and raring to go, no flowers yet.
