Its sunflower time! One of my favorite things to do is photographing sunflowers. Usually there's a bee or several bees on it. Today there were also bright yellow gold finches.
I planted my sunflowers late (actually the first planting was eaten by chipmunks and it took me some time to replant in pots and transplant to my plot). The flowers above are all growing in other garden plots - not mine. I have just one in bloom now (below, a Teddy Bear Dwarf Yellow from Botanical Interests),and three or four more varieties budded up and coming soon.

Did we have any bloom this year? We haven't been there in weeks and since we've given up the plot, we haven't really gone back to the gardens. We had planted some by the compost bin, but they were slow to grow this year.

I will check Jennifer. I think you do, but I can't remember for sure. Some of these photos may even be your. David has lots of 10-15 foot tall ones in the garden next to yours. I will look for yours tomorrow.

My sunflowers already finished blooming about a month ago, and the seeds were chowed down by the birds...

I checked your plot, Jennifer, and you have three tall (15 foot?) sunflowers growing in a clump at the far end. One was in bloom yesterday and it looks like 8 or 10 blooms will open soon. The goldfinches will enjoy this!
If you click on "FAQs" near the top of my sidebar, you'll see the type of camera. But I do have to update the lens. I have a new zoom lens that I LOVE. I can get nice photos of birds while standing far enough away so I don't scare them off. The lens is Canon EF-S 55-250mm 1:4-5.6 IS.
