This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. But Skippy always stood by me and was a great friend. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps and garden with me. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees and berry bushes, chickens and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

lettuce arugula2
lettuce harvest
A green harvest - lettuce, arugula and garlic chives. I am trying many new crops this year. One of them is arugula. It is doing great and is deeelicious! I am on the lookout for places to squeeze in more rows of this green.

Lactuca sativa

That looks like a lovely garden salad. I put in some flowers as well mostly for the color. How is Skippy doing?

My arugula is going like gangbusters here. Have to remember to plant a bit less next year, since they seem to grow like weeds in this climate. Yummy weeds, though!
