I'm actually trying to pick a photo to enter in the contest at Fine Gardening: The Autumn Garden. The prize is a time lapse camera, which sounds really fun. You can enter 5 photos until November 30. It'll take me that long to pick I think.

What is that stunning purple & green leafy plant being so wonderfully complemented by the bright yellow fallen leaf? It's so beautiful!

OK I just saw in your flickr feed that it's a cabbage, but what variety? Feeling an intense need to track it down for the next time I stay put long enough to be growing veggies!

I am so constantly in awe of how beautiful "humble" leafy green edibles can be.

That "cabbage" with the yellow leaf is an ornamental. My guess is the variety is Osaka Pink - actually a kale. I have a bunch in my front yard among the schrubburry.

I looked up places to find beautiful real cabbages. These are nice sites with great photos: West Coast Seeds, Reimer Seeds, High Mowing Seeds and Gourmet Seed Co. I LOVE this one: Cabbage Savoy di Verona - also available at my favorite source, Sand Hill Preservation Center. Maybe I'll try this one...

I vote for Skippy and the pumpkins. Am I allowed to vote?? I realize I'm probably not, but that is such a nice picture. My favorite!! It's beautifully composed. To my taste you outdid yourself with that one!! Take a bow, Skippy!

Thanks for the vote Mom. Yes, the voting is open to everyone - even you. I will submit 5 photos.

It must be so hard for you to choose just one, they are all so wonderful.

Thanks CG. It appears that site is not up anymore.

Unfortunately it is still there, and also cloned on several other sites.

I think the gnome is worthy of inclusion. He's so busy, carting off his fallen leaves. (Alice mentioned you weren't sure who I was -- friend from Cupertino -- ask your mom!)

Yes, Kathy, she's OK-- A loyal friend of our clan--our gardening clan, that is. I liked the fallen leaf too-remember??

I'm going to vote for the cabbage and zinnia...and say hi to my friend, sister and mom. Hi!

Regarding the site crafty gardener mentioned, it is still there, but at least you are credited and linked to your post in all there posts of yours...maybe it will be a good thing.
