This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

dad's garden
My dad's garden is flooded. I'm glad I'm up on a hill and don't have water problems like him. We've gotten about 5 inches of rain this week from a big Nor'easter that came up the coast. My dad planted his peas and some lettuce a couple weeks ago, but, like me, no sprouts yet.

Yikes, that is flooded. We haven't had that much rain. Just enough to keep us from doing much outside. Even though I haven't had to deal with a Nor'easter, I lost my cool season veggies due to the freezing temps we've had. :(
All too familiar down here! I hope your Dad's yard drains during the summer--and that the flooding is far away from his house!
Unfortunately his finished basement looks like the yard right now. He's always adding some new sump or drainage system. But both the yard and the house always dry up once the spring rains stop falling. Sure makes me like being up on a hill. I hope you are staying dry.
Sorry about your Dad's basement! Living below sea level means the same thing happens here from time to time. It's never any fun to clean up.
