This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

my backyard garden on Christmas Day
Merry Christmas, all. From Kathy, Suzie and Charley.
I picked a mache salad on christmas day, from my zone 5 garden. Winter gardening is such a mental boost - seeing green things braving the low light and cold temps, my role models! If they can do it, so can we! And now the light is increasing... yay.
happy Holidays and thank you for your blog - an inspiration year round.
About 50 miles west of you in Princeton the ground is still snow covered from last weeks storm that brought us 7". Early this morning, my driveway had to be sanded as the melting ice was so slippery. Today's high temperatures may well do it in . hopefully I am greeted by brown earth when I return from Auburndale this evening! Pat

Another snowless winter?

We had 6 inches of snow last week followed by rain and warmer temperatures a few days later. I have a feeling we'll get snow this winter.

Thanks Pat.
I think you're getting more snow today. I don't know about that brown earth out there.
