Belmont community gardens

Still deep snow in the community garden plots. But at least it has compressed enough so we can walk on it. Skippy and I walked in to look at my plot for the first time in two months. Its still snow covered. Except around the compost bin.

My composter was totally covered in snow this year and disappeared from sight, after the weekend rain i can finally see it again. More rains are coming soon and hopefully this snowpack will shrink without flooding too many more rivers and streams--and homes!

We visited our community garden plot at the the Howard County Conservancy in Maryland a few weeks ago. No snow here! And under row covers that were placed in November is a nice crop of turnips and spinach. Our first experiment of over-wintering worked!

I love community gardens. I used to keep a space in one in San Diego a good 15 years ago and I have good memories of it.

Hi Kathy, I'm curious about the "victory" part of the name on the sign. Which victory is that celebrating?

- or is it the victory over nature?
