signs of spring

first snowdrops

I think spring is right around the corner. The birds and squirrels seem to agree. The mornings have become noisy with bird songs this week. Snow piles have melted a bit in recent rains. The warmest southern sloped yard in our town has lovely snow drops in full bloom. A friend of mine who lives in PA told me lots of flowers are in bloom there - crocuses and tulips - so soon spring will make its way up to Boston soon. Its so exciting to watch the progression.

Isn't it great! The birds are busy, the cherry blossom outside our house has buds ready to burst and the days lengthening. What a privilege to enjoy the seasons.

Can't wait! I've seen a handful of new birds in my yard, the snow has melted here in Pennsylvania (even though we're getting pummeled with rain), and the crocuses and daffodils are poking through the mulch. Pretty soon I'll be up to my elbows in dirt!

Hello. I just found this wonderfull blog. Horticulture Magazine on line has an article about it.
It seems Kathy hasn't commented in awhile, Kathy are you still here?
I am an older lady that has loved gardening all my life. I grew up on a dairy farm in Vermont. My Dad was an avid gardener and I spent many hours in the garden with him. (Driving him nuts, of cours) So I love it, but since I have advanced in age, it has been awhile since I have been able to bend over or get on my knees. I'm going to try to get my hubby to build a raised garden plus as my backup, I have bought some "Grow Boxes" and will give them a try.
Any suggestions for us "Mature" gardeners?
