This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

Great to hear! Keep up with the salt marsh hay in the coop and the garden. I use it and it works great.
They ARE so much better. We have had our chickens for 18 mos. now. I can hardly look at a store-bought egg, even the nice ones...
I found 6 eggs in our coop today, 6 hens = 6 eggs. Not seen this since summer! An inch of snow last night too. The light really does help in the winter.
So what's a " nice one"? I have never known a difference between any store bought eggs. OK I remember a few of the rich deep yellow special ones I bought once.
I'm going to compare them carefully. Looking forward!
I feel the light difference too. It makes me want to go out and plant a garden! Except its all icy and snowy outside. Let's see, Jan 29 is same light level as about mid November. And getting better day by day...
I have 3 hens. I think it might be a while yet til my 3 hens = 3 eggs as Bertha I think will take her time. For now, 3 hens = 2 eggs per day.
Enjoy those 6 eggs a day! Yumm.
I had 1 egg today. Only Ginger who laid a pretty blue egg this morning. 5 total. So far.
