This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

eggplant blossoms
Another sign that summer is finally approaching: my eggplants have started to bloom. They're a bit mud spattered, but seem to be enjoying the sunny blue sky today.

Hi Kathy, my sister and I have been getting very excited about our Aubergine plants too! It is the first time we have tried them, so far in the seed/plant process, so good. The leaves have a wonderful texture and the fruit flowers seem to appear in a blink. We are crossing our fingers that we get some to eat and share. Marian(LondonUK)
What a difference a year makes. Last year we had eggplant out the wazoo. This year we have had wonderful weather for people (sunny but cool and dry) but lousy for eggplant (and okra, and other plants that love hot and muggy). But I do have terrific fennel bulbs. The weather give'th and the take'th away.

To live on different coasts. I have a glut of eggplants. Wish I could swap you some for potatoes! =D

learning so much, these veggie flowers (tomatoes, eggplants, zucchini, peas) are just as beautiful if not more than regular flowering plants

My Dad thinks eggplant flowers are the most beautiful flowers on Earth.
I have on eggplant growing, but all of my other flowrs just fall off and die. Im not sure why...
