This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

here's Charley
Charley is the new puppy we are getting. He was born Aug 26 - the day Skippy died :-( Charley is beautiful. He's little right now, born a week prematurely, but growing fast. The breeder can tell he'll have long legs and a long body. I'd like a big dog - like Skippy was. We plan to bring him home Friday October 28. He'll be 9 weeks old then.
The breeder calls our pup Inky. He is black as ink with a very silky coat. I don't know - we prefer to call him Charley. I'm a Steinbeck fan and he had a dog named Charley.
I'm sure Suzie will love him. It will be nice for her to have another dog for company again.

He is so cute!
Seeing you post about missing skimpy makes me realize how much I miss my belle. Losing a dog, especially suddenly, is heartbreaking.
He,s gorgeous.
Lucky you. Looks adorable.
Cute puppy! From these few photos, he looks like he's one that thinks things through, not just bouncing around diving headfirst into whatever catches his eye.
I am so very happy for you!!!! Such wonderful news that you will have a new addition to your family! Nine weeks seems a little young, but I am sure Suzie will be happy to help! Travels With Charley is my favorite book. : )
Gail. That's whAt his breeder says. You can see it too. She says he's a pretty serious guy. Nevertheless She said he was having fun today. When he was the Only one awake, he went around chewing on one pup's ears then another pup's tail. He's mouthy (like Skippy was).
I like the name Charley
Oh My! Charley is adorable. I'm so sorry for your lose of Skippy. I'm a new gardener and was looking for gardening blogs and found your link at Chiot's Run. I can tell I'm going to enjoy your blog, and perhaps even learn something. I'm just getting my blog started, and hope it's okay if I put a link there to yours in my Favorite Links. Just found your FB page too and am now following.
So hard to loose your friend, but oh how wonderful to get a new one. Such beautiful, soulful eyes! I'm so happy for you!
I am being hypnotized by those eyes!
Thanks for the link Betty Jo. I'll take a look at your new site. Good luck!
I have to restrain myself from posting more Charley photos. I keep getting more and he's growing fast and getting cuter by the day. He definitely looks soulful and serious as he runs around biting tail and nibbling on ears of his litter mates. I bring him home on Sat Oct 28.
Super cutie! Welcome to the family!
Charley is adorable! I'm sure that he will make a great addition to the family and Susie will have a companion to train. Have fun puppy proofing! Deb S.
Best of luck with your new addition! We had to put down a dog in February and after seven months of a very empty house and messed up routines brought a new one home three weeks ago. And suddenly it feels like home again.
