I have been telling Skippy that it will be his job to help train her.
This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

Yay! Congratulations on the new addition.
Yay, a new Portuguese water dog!! And a blood relative of Skippy's to boot - awesome. Please post pics when she arrives!
How great for Skippy! Are you thinking of breeding or just for companionship?
Kathy - Skippy will WILL help to train her. We live on 6 acres on the Chesapeake Bay, far from traffic. We have 3 dogs, ages 13, 8, and 3. When we brought the puppy home, the two older dogs socialized the puppy into how we do things. Youngest dog was the easiest to train by far, ever.
Another benefit: youngest dog (Chloe) is the best thing to happen to the 8 year old, who was at risk of becoming a fat lazy Golden. They are inseparable, best buddies who play together and sleep next to each other at night. So good! And y'all will have fun watching the socialization process ...
Take care,
Pam
Pam, that is so great to hear! I am counting down the days and so excited about the new puppy.
Suzy will be a companion, not a breeder. I'm thinking maybe I will do some agility with her. I like to do a project to build communication. Skippy and I did Therapy work when he was young and he really loves working. He'd like to do agility too.
And I certainly will post pics!
