A journal of my home vegetable garden. Skippy thinks it's his garden, but I've been gardening here for 20 years. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6). I have a big community garden plot and a small plot in my yard. I try to grow all of my family's vegetables using sustainable organic methods.

flowers in my October garden

October hyssop flowers 2

Most summer flowers are gone. A few remain. I was pleased to see honeybees still foraging. I photographed these flowers on Thursday, then pulled the nasturtiums on Saturday and after they were damaged by frost between these dates. Hyssop, borage and dill still look happy.

Lovely last minute splashes of colour. A heavy frost last Wednesday/Thursday finished off the Dahlias, Calendulas etc. Such an early frost!! Maybe its age, but I don't remember feeling the cold so early in the Autumn??
