This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

From where did you pick these up?? I only ever see the bare metal ones :(
Hi,
I enjoy reading your blog (I'm a subscriber). It's so instructive and fun to read. Anyway, just wanted to comment on those cages. I have several that I used last season and they are great and easy to use. Pretty sturdy too.
Cheers!
These are beautiful! Where did you find these and how tall are they? We use the regular 4 foot metal ones but our tomato plants have been growing taller than that so we're looking to upgrade to larger ones!
I've seen those cages, and they are cute, but I've never had much luck with tomatoes in them, the toms just overrun the cages and then they fall over. I do, however, like tomato cages for my pepper plants.
These tomato cages are 44 inches tall (less once they are stuck int the ground) and they are from Home Depot.
I am planning 12 tomato plants this year, 4 in these cages and the rest (8) tied to wooden stakes.
If you get hooked on gardening with tomato cages, check out Texas Tomato Cages http://tomatocage.com/. I've had them for years. I love how they fold up neatly for storage. Well worth the price.
Hi! Is your dog a cocker? We have a brown cocker and thought maybe the ears??? That is cute of her/him looking at the pansies! I just started a gardening blog this year. Come visit when you have time! Can't wait for this cold spell to get over. Nancy at Cozy Thyme Cottage.
Loving the color of the tomato cages. I purchased green last year. I would love to throw in more color. May have to check out Home Depot.
Hi Kathy, what happened with your tomato trellis? Mine worked pretty well. We used very thick bamboo stakes - so great! I'm using them again this year, with the strings tied to a peg and stuck in the ground.
