In my community garden plot, I was pleased to spot some garlic shoots today. These are in an area where I transplanted one year old top sets last fall. They're still tiny, but are up and green. The area I planted with larger bulbs is still snow covered. That's all the plant life I could see in the plot.

Actually it looked about this size when I transplanted it in October.
My garlic is up too, some didn't sprout though. Maybe I can pot some up now and fill in the spots when the ground thaws?
It is nice to see the snow melting. Almost all our snow is gone, I should really get a photo up of it before it comes back.

I can't see the garlic, guess my eyes are going bad. Glad you are getting some spring there!
We had 26 degrees last night and expect 25 and 26 three nights more this week. So far our sprouting peas, arugula, kale and meslin are not damaged, Meg covered them pretty heavy with straw.
Nice! It's always great to see some green after a long gray winter. Glad your garlic is sprouting!

I enjoyed visiting my plot yesterday and really look forward to a time when I have reason to visit it every day. Today was just an indoor work day.
Looks like I'll be helping with the Belmont Community Garden organization this coming season. I'll attend a meeting next week. Though I don't really have time for another project, I really enjoy the community plots and will do what I can to help out.
So exciting to see the first shoots of Spring. Finally the season is getting underway after such a long Winter.
