Slave to a springtime passion for the earth.
How Love burns through the Putting in the Seed
On through the watching for that early birth
When, just as the soil tarnishes with weed,
The sturdy seedling with arched body comes
Shouldering its way and shedding the earth crumbs.

Is that a little violet or a Johnnie-jumpup? So cute! We are still getting tomatoes off the vines here in way South SoCal, but the last rose was two weeks ago.
Thanks for blogging about your garden; it'd grand watching things pop out of the ground there. Happy Thanksgiving.

Its a johnny jump up. I have scattered volunteers every year that show up in different places in my garden.

That's a lovely sweet pea. Do you know the name of it? Thanks.

Its a bronze snapdragon. I think from a distance it has a bronze look. But its really a mix of yellow and pink. Maybe Bronze Rocket? But I don't remember what the tag said - I bought seedlings at Nunan's in Boxford MA.
BYW, its still in bloom. My longest lasting flower this year.

I've never grown snapdragons. There sure are some pretty ones out there. Definitely on my list for next season, thanks.

Very new to gardening. I built 3 garden beds (well actually my boys built them for me). It's December 22nd,I'm dying to start gardening, but not sure when I should begin or what. I also run a preschool and would love to incorporate a children's vegetable garden.
Thanks so much for any input.
