This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

potato vodka

Ahh, the best use yet for potatoes. Cold River vodka. And its made in southern Maine, which is almost local for me (120 mi away).

Today's high temp will be 10*F. A good reason to stay inside, thumb through seed catalogs and enjoy a little sip of a potato beverage. I like it on ice. Ahhh.

potatoes (Solanum tuberosum)

I'm in the Sierra's by a frozen creek that looks a lot like your Cold River. Maybe I'll go see what's in the inside in the freezer! Cheers!

This is the only vodka I drink. If you can find it...try it. It is not available everywhere. I am gluten free so potato works for me!

I love potatoes.Cold River Vodka is a gluten-free spirit that is hand-crafted from potatoes and water from a local river in Maine. The blueberry flavor of Cold River Vodka istasty and subtle, just like the real fruit. This vodka tastes great when serve chilled or on the rocks. I like to enjoy my potatoes vodka drink with Cohiba cigars. As cohiba cigars are not easily available in the local market, so I buy them online.
