A journal of my home vegetable garden. Skippy thinks it's his garden, but I've been gardening here for 20 years. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6). I have a big community garden plot and a small plot in my yard. I try to grow all of my family's vegetables using sustainable organic methods.

Early girl tomato

This tomato was delicious! I put the dates of the pictures in the lower right corner. (Click on the picture to enlarge it.) The flower bloomed on June 22. About 40 days from flower to ripe tomato.

Solanum lycopersicum

Very cool post. I am keeping a blog of my garden this year and I have some early girls in the garden. They just started to flower (June 9). Check it out; I have lots of other neat stuff growing as well. http://canadiangardenjournal.blogspot.com/

I just bought one Early Girl plant, I planted it in a pot. The plant is close co one foot above the roots. I can move it into and out of the sun as needed, however how long should I leave it in full sun? We are in mid to south Texas, temp goes up and down, now in the 90s.
