This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

balmy (hot!) fall
I can't believe it's November 3 and NO FROST yet. This is over 3 weeks later then our average date of Oct 10. It's a very odd season here in the northeast. We're up in the 70's today.
does this mean you're having better luck with your fall peas? i meant to give them a try but then forgot and thought it too late. i've been kicking myself ever since... lol...
strange weather all over...here in the northwest we are having snow flurries... we rarely get snow and never this early....it went from warm fall to freezing winter it seemed overnight....glad I got my dahlias and potatoes dug before this cold wet weather started....
Same here. No snow yet, but from record warm to record cold in the space of a week I think. It seems crazy. But I think changeable weather and abrupt falls have been normal here for many years. We’re down into the low 20’s tonight with lots of wind.

Darn!! I forgot the peas. I can’t believe it. This would have been the perfect year!!

Not low 20’s, but high teens tonight here. Brrr. I hope my chickens are snuggling up out there.
