This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.
I've been trying to do that four or five years now. (Last year the chipmunks ate it all.) Usually it's a bit small going into the winter for harvesting all winter, but takes off early in the spring. This year, I have a month or so of full grown lettuce left, then a lot of small greens for early next year (barring critter and winter damage).

Lovely. Having salads with lettuce and other greens from your own garden is an underestimated simple pleasure.
Your lettuce looks incredible. Do you grow leafy greens through the winter?

I have a similar issue, only my garden nemesis are the rabbits.
