This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.
What are those green round things -- pumpkins? Found one like that growing in my veggie garden which appeared out of no where. Mine is more elongated and I was hoping it was a watermelon but am utterly mystified.
The green round things are winter squashes. My first of the year are just now ripening. The front two darker green ones are Buttercup Squash. The one in back, the blue grey one, is a Hubbard Squash called Blue Ballet. Its my first year growing Blue Ballet and I love it!
Looks great, tomatoes have been good with us this year too! Cucumbers, courgettes and marrows fab! Made some Marrow and Ginger Jam, it is yummy and it is a little Marmalade like. Your harvests are great Kathy. We have had a cold snap past week or so, (gone from stickey heat to wearing a jumper) sadly our beans and looks like the cukes have decided Autumn is here already and yellowed. Marian (LondonUK)
