In the past 6 days, my three hens laid 8 eggs. Not bad.
This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

Love the dark yolks!
They look delicious! For some reason Summer has just popped into my head and I thought of a lovely french style fresh picked summer leaf salad with bacon lardons, a good dressing and a poached egg on top. I think with your garden plans and the Chooks, you are going to enjoy some great food this year!

Lucky you!
Those eggs look really nice! I have been getting eggs from a farm on the edge of the city for a while now. I notice the yolks taste a lot better then caged birds.
I say that home-raised chickens are definitely superior in egg taste. Funny how that works but I suppose life is a lot less stressful over all and the food pretty priveleged! Your eggs look lovely.
