This is my favorite dahlia. A big soft orange one that my Dad started many years ago. The flowers are about 6 inches in diameter. Its a large vigorous plant that overwinters well. I have a clump taller than me next to my vegetable garden. The flower here is one of my Dad's.

Lovely in the light! Would you care to share of your dahlia overwintering secrets?
Its not really a secret. Its just a good variety, I think. I dig it after the first light frost and put it in a bag and hang it from the rafters in the basement. The hardest part is in the spring, when I try to find where I put it.
Neither my Dad nor I have been very successful with any other dahlias we've tried. My guess is the most important thing is good rich soil during the growing season.
