This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

Green-eyed Susan?
I should have looked at the label of these flowers before I planted them. I don't know what they are called. Something new, I guess - I never seen them before. They look very cheerful in the garden. I put them in next to my black-eyed Susan's, which will not bloom 'til late July or August.

I think that they're called "Irish Eyes" but you may want to google that--I'm not aware of other green-eyed ones, but they very well may exist.
I really just wanted to tell you that Skippy's veggie garden looks good. He'll be eating well soon! ;)
I think they're rudbeckia prairie sun. I had them last year thinking they'd be black eyed susans. I remember reading that they are biennial and sure enough, mine did not come back this year.
