This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

first day of autumn
A sad good-bye to summer...
Something about the fall garden isn't the same as the spring and summer one. I notice I'm not heading out there as much. I have fewer vegetable garden pictures to show. Instead I'm playing with my photos today.
.... here in 5a nights are consistently below 50 and we had our first, albeit light, frost this morning 9/25. My outdoor thermometer recorded 36 as the low at 6' on my porch but there was obvious frost on the grass and lower leaves of some of the plants. -S
Wow, you're much colder than us. We're having record warm spell now. Days are near 90! and last night didn't go below 70! I like warm, but this seems too warm for late Sept. We're forecast to cool soon, but I still dont; expect a frost anytime soon. Last year not til early Nov.
