today's harvest
A big handful of garlic scapes.

This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

bathed in rain and sun.
A faithful laborer...
and the harvest shall come."

I harvested my garlic scapes as well. What do you like to do with yours?

I use them like garlic, cutting them up in dishes that I am sauteing. I also use them fresh, sliced thin, as a topping on salads, cooked vegetables, dips. I made a great scape pesto once. I think the recipe is listed here somewhere.
I'd love to get more ideas. I think someone mentioned pickling scapes, which I think would be interesting.
