This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

today's harvest
Lettuce, bok choi and herb fennel. What do I do with all that fennel herb?! I bought is not realizing that bulb fennel and herb fennel are different.
Infuse vodka with it to make an Italian liqueur called Finocchietto (a bit like limoncello, just with fennel). You could make a pesto with it. Roast whole fish on the grill atop it (or wrap fish and bake in the oven) I always freeze some to make stock with. If you can get shake some pollen from the flowers, it is nice to have on hand. enjoy!
