This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

mystery tree - any guesses?
This tree is behind my garden. It's full of beautiful white flowers in the spring. Now it has tiny fruits that are shiny red. I wish I knew what is was.
I tried this year for a fall crop of green beans . . . I planted them the first of August, but I think I should have planted them a month earlier. I'm new to gardening and learning by the seat of my pants. This year is my second garden and it is so much fun doing my grocery shopping in the backyard and fresh tomatoes . . . oh my goodness, they are like candy :) I do hope that your peas develop before frost and that you get a few meals out of them :) Have a happy day and keep smiling. Your blogging sister, Connie :)
Is it a chokecherry? I'm just guessing here.
ReplyDeleteMy guess would be a pin cherry, but definitely a cherry of some variety.
ReplyDeleteI don't know. I'm starting to think it's maybe a boring ornamental crab apple. I think the leaves aren't as elongated as a cherry.

I think you're right...looks a lot like my crab apple.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of our crab apple tree when i was a little girl. Haven't seen the tree in 18 years, but that's my guess, too.
