This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

piliateds
Two enormous piliated woodpeckers making a racket in my backyard! Must be a sign of spring. (I couldn't find my camera in time. Dang. ) And towards evening, a great horned owl was hooting. Not to mention the racket from all the other smaller birds all day today. The snow is turning to slush. Four feet of slush on our walking trails, nice!
Hi, the birds are definitely singing energetic spring song in our garden, some blossom is popping open and daffodils nodding. I miss hearing Owls as dusk falls, we used to hear one regularly in our edge of London garden, but not for a number of years now.

Ohhh, daffodil! I jealous. Maybe I will try shoveling a bit where I have snowdrops and crocus bulbs.
