This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.
It looks great! You guys did a wonderful job setting that up. Are you going to leave the grass or mulch or something else? I always struggle with pulling the weeds up in our mulch and sometimes I think leaving it grass would be way easier.
I am going to leave the grass in the paths. I love it. It got really long this week and then I cut it with a weed whacker. Looks beautiful and the soft grass and long newly cut hay on top feels really nice to walk through.
Eventually, I'd like to move the fence out about 1 foot and add a narrow bed along the front fence that will be all flowers to attract pollinators. I'll put a post and rail fence just outside the wire fence to edge the garden nicer and I'll add an arbor over the gate, probably with pale pink roses climbing up it.
