This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

world soil day
Yesterday was world soil day! Who knew....
I celebrated by making squash bread with homegrown squash (and my sister), feeding my chickens the leftovers, and composting their poop! (OK, we had a martini too..)
Yeah DIRT!
Actually it was vodka with dried mango garnish. I' also prefer fin, but it needs to gave olive or a fresh homegrown vegetable as garnish. I'm down to kale, winter squash, garlic, potatoes, dried beans and dried chiles for homegrown vegetables. But I did buy some nice cerignola olives today and the gin martinisi are looking good....
Was that martini gin or vodka.
