Today's harvest included about 15 cucumbers, 5 varieties: Diva, North Carolina Pickling, Boston Pickling, Tokiwa and Sooyow Nishiki. We did a taste test and the conclusion was: we couldn't really tell any difference, they all taste like cucumbers!
Also in today's harvest is my first full size tomato. A New Girl. It needs to ripen inside a few days. In this dry weather, I was afraid the squirrels would eat it if I let it ripen on the vine.

My goodness how lovely, enjoy them. I have just planted out our second batch of cucumbers in to grow bags in a poly greenhouse at the side of the house. The first batch got demolished by gales in June!! Our under the jet stream weather is not letting any cucumbers, tomatoes or beans do much at all at the Lottie. A shame after such strong plants grew. Well what can you do? Apparently a warm front is coming next week. Too late for some things, I will stick in some more beans though, they may grow.

What beautiful cucumbers. I didn't grow them this year, but after seeing these, I would like to try next season.
I gave many of my cucumbers away, but I do have some good cucumber chips that I look forward to making soon. My friend will give me a Japanese recipe for cucumber salad and I love cucumber and yogurt salads. I also put a bit of cucumber into a stir fry the other day.
Let me know any good cucumber recipes.
Great looking Cukes! Funny how they all taste like Cukes- hehe . We did the same thing with the taste test and the only difference we could find was the skin texture. I attempted my hand at making dill pickles with my cukes this year.. we shall see how they turn out.

Nice harvest! My fav you can tell the difference is the Lemon Cucumber! We have harvested just a few cukes this year, pickling cukes that came up from the garden on their own. Waiting for Lemon and Armenian Yard Long cukes currently.

You have beautiful garden there. I live near Boston too and gardening is my hobby and I am still learning while exploring several tricks I have learned all these years. Overall, in my opinion - it was really hard to get good vegetable garden in Boston area as our summer is short. But you totally changed my opinion and inspiring me big time. I would love to learn more on how you give good start and how you keep soil rich ..etc. Would love following your blog on daily basis. keep up great work.
