birds at the gardens today

garden birds 021
garden birds 015
garden birds 012 garden birds 006

Just the common birds today. Sparrows, robins, cardinals. I saw but couldn't get photos of chickadees and juncos.

I like to check my IDs of the birds: from top song sparrow, chipping sparrow pair, white throated sparrow, American robin, and northern cardinal. Bird experts - is this right?

  1. Great shots, getting up at 6.20a.m. in the dark is hard. But the sounds of the little Robin singing in the new day in the tree outside our house makes me smile and think, if that little thing can get up and go, so can I. Life would be very drab without the little birdies.

  2. Yes the darkness is hard now - and UK has even more darkness than us. I am counting the days til we are on the other side of the solstice.

  3. That's a beautiful photo with the cardinal. Would make a sweet and peaceful holiday card.

  4. A darling site. And you've correctly named the birds.I'm going to begin a window gardening blog, shortly. I'll link to your "elder statesman" blog.

  5. I agree with most of the bird IDs, but picture 015 is not chipping sparrows. The chap on the left is your song sparrow again. The pink bill and buffy brown colour of the chap on the right indicate it's a field sparrow. They are very good photos!
