cold frame seedlings

I had a zoom lens on my camera, so these photos show only parts of my cold frame. Its filling fast. My dad says the orchids don't belong in a vegetable cold frame. Maybe not, but they seem to be enjoying it. They've suffered from the long dry dark winter inside and my neglect.

Looking good!

I wish I could figure out how to build my own cold frame for minimal money (and without any power tools). I built one last year out of old windows and cinder blocks that worked pretty well, but it was kind of ugly looking...and the windows kept getting cracked and the glass eventually broke.

That looks like a big cold frame. I'm jealous. Did your dad mention why the orchids wouldn't belong in there? I would think they'd enjoy it!

I used to live in Boston and moved to Pennsylvania in 2004. What an astounding change in gardening habits! We warm up about two weeks earlier here, and while that doesn't seem like much, it makes a huge difference in the growing season.
