This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

crocuses
I love how the first crocus push their way up through whatever debris I've left behind. Soon I'll rake the leaf layer from the garden beds, carefully.
I still haven't seen my first crocus yet. We don't have any in the yard as we are waiting for all the main plantings to be in before the fall bulbs go in. But I have seen some foliage in my neighbors' yards. Maybe soon.
I'm amazed at how fast your snow disapeared! I still have about 2 feet on top of my crocus... Spring does arrive this weekend and we are expecting highs of 15 celsius by Friday, so hopefully the snow will vanish here too.
I am just a bit south of you here in Middleboro, Ma and found my first crocus Sunday! So exciting since I am working with a new house. I am unearthing all sorts of green stems from the leaf piles on the flower beds the previous tenant left last fall. Excited to see what they turn out to be!
a sure sign of spring if i ever saw one! lovely. :o)
ReplyDeleteOh so pretty. I'm all the way down here on the seacoast and mine are only up a few inches! We have a LOT of snow in our yard still.
