ReplyDeleteI can't believe you get to start seeds in January. Mid-march is my earliest start date! I can't imagine our climate zones are that much different.
ReplyDeleteOoh, this gave me a few reminders of things I've forgotten but also a few new varieties I haven't tried. Great post!
ReplyDeleteI have all of my seeds but getting a "late" start due to a long bout of illness. Starting peas and radishes as soon as we amend the soil in two patches of community garden. Didn't do any of the onion/potato type family due to space but have lotsa variety. this is only my 2nd gardening year and I'm super excited to get started. One battle is finances to get the seeds lit until it's sunny enough to put them outside.
ReplyDeleteI, just came across your blog :)
ReplyDeleteWhat state do you live in. I am trying to gauge when I should start my plants indoors...
Dave
I was surprised to read that you start beets under lights, then transplant. I thought doing that with a root vegetable wouldn't work. I am going to start some today.
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
This is very helpful. We have dandelions every year here! I am going to grow some herbs, mint, lemon balm for the bugs, and I am going to try catnip.
ReplyDeleteKathy, I very impressed with what you have accomplished. You work is an inspiration. Thanks.
ReplyDeletehow about tomatos?
ReplyDeleteI have no idea why my tomatoes did not make it onto this list. I planted about 15 varieties some time in April. My usual favorites, like Cherokee Purple, Giant Belgium, Opalka, Oxheart Red, Orange Blossom, Brandywine, Boxcar Willie, Mortgage Lifter, etc etc...
