today's harvest

today's harvest

The broccoli is from my cold frame. The spring plants are producing a few nice heads now that the weather has cooled down.

My tomatoes continue to trickle in. A handful a week. No frost in my yard yet. But the sun is so low that I will pull the plants soon anyway.

The herbs are great now: parsley and thyme today.

  2. What bounty! I am so envious of your pretty green tomatoes - I always think of the fried green tomatoes my father used to make, can almost smell them just from your photo! Here my plants, which bravely survived the summer, are just beginning to bloom and set; unfortunately the survivors are Romas, much better for sauces than the frying pan! Happy Halloween to you and Skippy!

  3. I'm guessing those tomatoes are past the break-point for ripening.

  4. I love the blog and your continual updates. The broccoli looks really nice and the tomatoes look like they will ripen ok on the windowsill. Do you use stakes of a trellis for your tomato cultivation.

  6. Isn't nice how if you're patient with the tomatoes, they'll eventually ripen up on the vine? And yes, I was just thinking about how nice it is that herbs and roots vegetables are still around and how they work so well together...
