This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

my first ripe tomato
My first ripe tomato was today. A nice little sungold cherry. I didn't get a good photo of it. This is about 2 weeks earlier than I usually get my first tomato.
We got our first ripe Sungold on Sunday too! I was reading an article about this hot, dry spell and the farmer said by looking at the daily temperatures that we are 15 days ahead of last year.
Weird, huh? I've even got big heirlooms that are a day or so away from being ripe. I guess mother nature decided to give us a break since she punished our tomatoes so much last year!
