This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.
Isn't it great your Photo brings a smile to my face. I grew a couple of Cucumbers last year fully expecting them to fail in our topsy turvey climate. Your photograph reminds me of when I became stupidly and geekily excited that the fruits had set! Happy Cucumber eating to you, again you will not be happy with shop bought ones ever again. I have been so impressed with your garden since I've been following your blog. My garden is a humble container garden on my tiny deck (at least until we get our first house). My cucumbers and squash aren't doing so well. They get really wilted by the end of the afternoon. I was wondering if you had any suggestions. I'm not sure if it's the heat, a lack of water, or crowding. I've transplanted some of them so they aren't as crowded. There are pictures of them on my blog if you have a moment.

Ours are starting to grow too! It's exciting to see the plants doing so well!
We'll have fresh cucumber salad soon!

Oh, don't you love those little sweethearts?
Oh, what a spiky looking cucumber!

DawnMarie,
Your plants look really nice. Its hard to grow in containers. I left a comment on your blog. Hope it helps. Maybe others will leave opinions too!
