This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

Skippy's big hole
Usually Skippy is very calm and obedient. Today was different. He got that look in his eyes and he wanted to PLAY. To get my attention, first he dug a hole in the middle of my garden, then the bit a few holes in the cuff of my pants, then he stole the bag of tulip bulbs I was planting. OK! I get it. Time for a walk!

LOL, I hope you didn't impale Skippy with that pitchfork for digging in the garden!
ReplyDeleteThat pitch fork is WAY BEHIND SKippy!!!! And it was in the ground long before today! I was surprised to notice it after reading your comment.
ReplyDeleteI laughed at Skippy and said "good dig"! I think he was surprised, because usually I say "paws Off!"and put him on a leash. But its fall, almost winter, not much is growing. And with my recent plot expansion there's lot of empty dirt. What fun to be a dog and DIG! I saw the twinkle in his eye and I bet my eyes twinkled too...
Both of my dogs enjoyed free reign of the garden last week. They got to investigate and dig and even taste some of the few vegetables that were left there. My
ReplyDeleteAnnie discovered carrots are very tasty this time of year, and they both found where I'd done some trench composting....who knew old egg shells and bell pepper tops would taste so delicious!
Sounds like Skippy and Abby need a play date to keep them busy.
ReplyDeleteI like that face he is making...that guilty look :-)/ LOL Tyra
ReplyDeleteGotta love him with that face :O)
