This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.
They looks so pretty. I never have such a pretty group. I sow just a small patch at a time and they are all different sizes. Just part of one row will be the same size. I'm the only one that eats lettuce in my house.
I sowed these inside in little 6-pack pots, one seed per cell. I watched my local CSA farmer do it this way. Very professional. Then I transplanted to the garden at proper spacing for nice heads. I love the way they look.
I do have to keep an eye out for slugs, but its still too cold for them here. Usually not til July.

ReplyDeleteHow beautifully organized, and not a slug-hole in sight!
