This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

CSA farm tour
Many thanks to Gretta for the wonderful tour of her CSA farm this afternoon. Gretta farms an acre of land here in Belmont MA and produces the most delicious and beautiful vegetables you have seen. Her hoop house is full of seedlings now. She has a lot more information at her site: Belmont CSA News.

That just looks so organised! I wish I had a greenhouse that size.. I would probably move in!
ReplyDeleteDo you have more photos of her farm? I'd love to see them, and I know others would too.~~Dee
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy! What with spring finally showing itself, I've been looking forward more than ever to the reopening of the wonderful CSA I belong to. So thanks for the preview! And like Dee, I'd love to see more pictures, too!!!
ReplyDeleteI think I will be posting more of my photos of Gretta's farm at her CSA site. We'll see. Thanks for asking!
ReplyDeleteI agree with matron - I want to move in! It looks cozy and perfect!
ReplyDeleteGretta has photos now at her site (Belmont CSA News). (You can also click on any of my photos to get to my Flickr site with all my photos.)
ReplyDeleteI love photos of the inside of seedling greenhouses!! Sounds odd, but I've been market gardening for five seasons now, and I still haven't actually toured other tiny farm operations. I study every picture I can, to see how they do things and how it compares with what I'm up to. Like here, a really simple, obvious thing, but from this photo I realized how much easier it would be, and slightly cheaper, to build screen tables rather than use plywood. That's what I have now, and I need more space this year. And those screens could be used later in the season for sorting and rinsing the weekly harvest (we already have a narrow screen table for that, and could use more!). Cool!
ReplyDeleteThat's great that the photos are useful for you. I have to mention that you have a really fantastic blog. I love it!
ReplyDeleteThe Belmont CSA is where we have our fall farmshare! I also know Farmer Gretta...who I think of as Gretta the Great...from the farmers' market. Her place is only a few blocks from where I live. How cool is that?
ReplyDeleteGretta the Great! I love it! She sure is.
ReplyDeleteYour location is pretty cool. We are probably neighbors.
I have my first farm share this year. Also a fall share. I can't wait..
