This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

sunflower autumn gold
This sunflower is growing in a pot on my patio. Its 6 or 7 feet tall. I had to get a ladder out to get this photo. I have several different varieties of sunflowers planted around my yard this year. This is the first to bloom. I wonder who will find it first - the squirrels or birds?
Oh my... that macro is mindblowing. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSpectacular! The lucky bees, birds and squirrels in your backyard.
ReplyDeleteLove how that first photo draws you into the flower!
ReplyDeleteThe first photo is a cropped and enlarged section of the lower photo. My camera has nice resolution, especially in full sunlight, even without a macro lens. (A macro lens is on my wish list - maybe some day...)
ReplyDeleteThis sunflower is not very big - probably 6-8 inches diameter, but sure is tall.
