This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

borage blue
I don't think you can beat the beautiful blue color of borage. culinary herbs
How pretty! I'm growing borage for the first time this year...it's still tiny as it got a late start. I've heard the leaves taste like cucumber...do you use them in salads?
I do plant them for the flowers alone, though I have been meaning to try the leaves in salad.
As my sister reminds me, once you plant it, it'll come up all over the garden in future years. I always enjoy my dill plants volunteering among the carrot and beans. Hopefully I can recognize borage seedlings and have scattered borage too.

ReplyDeleteBorage has very beautiful flowers. I always thought I should plant them for the blooms alone. I'll have to add it to my list next year. Great photos.
