This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

seedlings and forsythia on the windowsill

Yes, I forced the forsythia. To force, just cut it and bring in inside. Put it in water and because of the warmth inside, it will bloom very fast. Its not blooming outside yet. I bet its still a week or more off til it blooms outside. I love the bright yellow on the sill.
You can also force other blossoms like apple and cherry. I think its good to wait a bit though for those. Their buds don't seem to have formed yet. (Hard to imagine right now the glory of an apple tree in full bloom. Ahhh.)
