I have lots of little sprouts on my sweet potatoes so today I potted them up in soil. My first pot under the seed lights! I'm saving those big plastic lettuce and spinach containers for potting this year. They are a nice size.
This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.

Hi, Kathy,
As a new transplant to ths area, i was googling around to find info to learn to be a gardener here. I am so happy to find your blog. I've been enjoying reading your blog since I relocated here from the Midwest 3 years ago. Your blog has been my guiding post. Being a Midwest gardener for decades, I had to re-learn gardening in Boston area. Many thanks to you for spending so much time and sharing your passion with us. I now have established a small raised bed vege garden for my 5 year old grandson. We love it. Through reading your blogs, I feel like you are my first friend in my new city :-) Thank you for such a wonderful blog. Cathy
Hi Cathy. Welcome to the NE! I'm glad you find my blog helpful. I'm happy to have a new blog-friend!
I have been watching the potted up sweet potato sprouts. Its amazing how fast they are growing now that they are in soil and under lights.
I can't wait to get mine going. I like your tray of dirt under the plant light method. I was wondering how to do mine exactly now that my windows are too cold to set them in front of.
