today's harvest
...a handful of kale and broccoli greens
Labels: harvests
This is a journal of my vegetable gardens. Skippy was my first dog and he thought the garden was his, even though I did all the work. Now Suzie and Charley follow in his footsteps. We're located near Boston (USDA zone 6A). I have a community plot, a backyard vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, and bees. I use sustainable organic methods and do my best to grow all of my family's vegetables myself.
"A well planned garden
bathed in rain and sun.
A faithful laborer...
and the harvest shall come."

Very healthy looking greens, Kathy.

I thought those were collard greens at first - that's what my garden label said, but after I picked them I noticed they look like broccoli leaves. I cooked them up with the kale anyway and they were tasty. The kale is very sweet after a number of very hard freezes.
